Data Collection & Evaluation All Stars
Since 2007, we’ve been collecting qualitative data as we feel it is important to formally study whether participants in Title IX Girls are able to demonstrate understanding of program values, specifically mindfulness and self-awareness. To answer this question, we are applying qualitative methods to analyze the content of participant journal entries from 2010-2016.
The journals, which have been digitized and made anonymous, will be coded to identify themes related to mindfulness by two researchers who are not directly involved in program implementation. We have already planned out the research approach, received study approval from Harvard’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), and begun initial stages of coding the journal transcripts to identify commonalities and themes across journal entries. The hope is to having the findings published in a peer-review journal, with the results also presented as a reader-friendly one page summary for the general public.
